About Sarmad Naqvi

Welcome — I’m Sarmad Naqvi, Vice President of Commercial Real Estate and Construction at Woodruff Sawyer, where I help property owners, developers, and investors navigate the complex world of commercial real estate insurance and construction risk management.

With nearly 20 years of experience, I specialize in creating customized insurance programs that protect assets, improve portfolio performance, and lower the total cost of risk. My focus areas include property insurance, builder’s risk, liability coverage, replacement-cost analysis, and loss-control strategies tailored for high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, and investment portfolios.

Before joining Woodruff Sawyer, I worked with leading brokerage firms and began my career in property management and leasing. That first-hand experience allows me to understand the operational and financial pressures real estate professionals face — from managing budgets to mitigating claims and navigating coverage renewals.

I hold the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation and stay actively involved in BOMA, ULI, and ProVisors, helping foster collaboration and education around smarter, more resilient risk practices.

Through my articles, I aim to make insurance and risk management approachable for the commercial real estate industry — breaking down complex topics into actionable insights for property managers, asset owners, and investors. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, but work nationally. I am regularly in Chicago and New York.
